Kato Muhammed
GIANT2022-11-09T09:05:28+00:00Nakanwaji Esther is resident of kyampisi Kakoola sub village in Mukono municipality she is a 32 year old single mother of four children. One of whom is plagued by a multiple severe disability that has left him unable to talk. Kato Muhammad mujjobe is a 13 year old boy living with a total physical disability he lives with severe neurological skeletal deficiencies that came out due to malarial at an early as 8 months where he got crippled.
Kato Mujjobe’s father first took concern about his medication in katelemwa and Mpelerwe Hospital where the doctors recommended that he would get better with time but when Kato’s condition worsened, the got fed-up after giving birth to another child Kigozi Shafic who also started getting sick as early as one month when Kato’s father realized that shafic was not recovering he thought of having two disabled children and he got afraid of taking responsibilities therefore he decided to run away leaving Mrs. Nakanwaji Esther with full responsibilities.
After she had been abandoned by her husband she had no money to look after the family because of the ‘’un bearable’’ disability her son was diagnosed with, this forced her taker her family to her mother’s house looking for survival because she had no money to continue paying rent for the house.
Her story is one marred by betray, loss, hardship and pain. It is almost impossible to think of any positive moment that comes with such a life.
Mrs. Nakanwajji continued to narrate to the club the behavior of his son Kato. She says that Kato is suffering from body imbalance problem which left him crippled; he has facial weakness that caused him gradual difficulty in speaking. He has impaired coordination where his body gets stiff muscles and then back to normal. He fears darkness where by this compelled the TIMELY GOD LED CLUB to buy a small solar panel that provides him with light at night. He was trained how to switch it on whenever there’s darkness.
Whenever he feels like excreting waste he uses sign language or even makes unnecessary noise to alert them that he needs to ease himself and incase they fail to attend to him that’s when he does everything in his pants.
Mrs. Nakanwajji with four people under her care Nalumansi Takiya 14 years old, Nalubwama Jauhalah 8 years old Shafic aged 3 and Kato says there’s never any money left to afford basic needs like clothes for children, food and shelter and education because this small room is under bank property due to the loan that her sister got because she tried to chess her out when she refused to move out she descided to take a loan from the bank and intentionally defected so that the bank can move her sister out and sell the property, so at any time they are chasing her out of the house to be auctioned.
However, the most unfortunate time is when she runs out of money she tries to wash people’s clothes and fetch water in the community where she earns or even no payment at all. During these times Kato often goes hungry. She tries to feed her children at least once a day. On a good day, their meals consist of maize flare (posh), beans.
Medical treatment for her children is also one of the major challenges she faces because at the moment Kato’s Brother, Kigozi got burnt but he’s suffering from open wounds and she lacks money to treat him.
However, she still prays daily and thank God for the timely God club which has continued to donated, food, soap, a new wheel chair to Kato which was given to improve on his life and a little. She was so grateful for the support.
‘’ The club’s duty has been so remarkable and inspiring because they provide happiness to a strained life’’
How the club is so troubled when Nalumansi ,Takiya, Kato’s sister asked them while crying saying ‘’ I wish it is possible for my Dad to come back so that I can see him for once in a lifetime, because we miss him so much and feel so bad to see our mother suffering and looking for basic needs alone
