The directors Timely God Led Club Pastors Emmanuel & Brenda Binaisa conducted a home visit to a family of Mrs. Justine Nambelenge who is having an 18 year old daughter, Alice Nabwonso leaving with a physical disability due to polio virus .They are resident of Kimega Village Namuganga Sub County with in Mukono District.
Alice’s disability story was given by her mother who is very poor to the extent that she cannot manage to provide school fees and uniform for her child at school. She said that Alice was born normally just like any other child but after immunization she started getting ill with constant fever, high temperature and she thought that the baby will be free after medical treatment but unfortunately the sickness grew worse.
At 9 months the baby could not move her body parts and later they realized that its life-threatening disease caused by polio virus and since 2004 up to date, Alice has never walked without crawling.
A sense of belonging and acceptance in society, focusing on their ability not disability because disability is not inability. Her parent first neglected her without a chance of going to school saying nothing good can come out of her.
When officials of TGLC meet Alice and asked her how she feels when left home doing nothing and she said no matter the height, age, nature, she has the confidence of going to school and plan for the future so at 18 years of age Alice is now still in primary three (p.3) at Kimega primary school in Namuganga.
Alice says that she has the confidence to study and has a dream of becoming a doctor. Though she is faced with so many daily obstacles along the way going to school and coming back such as isolation, self-pity and in class teachers don’t treat her like other students and since she walks while crawling to and from hence her knees got serious injuries due to long distance.
Alice and the mother Mrs. Justine Nambelenge requested the Timely God Led Club, well-wishers, and everybody to stand with the family and pay school fees, bye a wheel chair, or take her to any technical school or pay for her school fees at boarding section in order to limit on her getting injuries due to long distance to schoo
